I hope everyone 4th of July was wonderful, because mine surely was. While I didn't have access to my full computer/social media/blogging system I did have my handy iPhone and twitter. Through twitter I was able to follow the deets on major fashion news stories through the holiday weekend. So here are the ones that keep my hands active:
Kate Moss got married to Jamie Hince, she looked happy and the rest of the wedding party looked beautiful. The style of the wedding was very hippie, the the young bridesmaids had flower headdress and wore white sheath dresses. Fashionista.com twitter asked the question, Disappointed in Kate Moss wedding Dress? My retweet was, "Nope! It's not my wedding. Whatever makes the bride happy". The wedding dress was designed by Galliano and was very understated and fit the aesthetic of the wedding. I can not have huge expectations or demand what someone regardless of it's a supermodel or member of the Royal Family, should wear on their wedding day. It's a day meant for them and their close family not to appease fashion bloggers.
Last but not least, the Christian Dior Fall 2011 runway show in Paris, le sigh. I appreciate Cathy Horyn critiques so when I saw her tweet of, "More from Dior. Lot's of strangeness here, folks." I knew this wasn't good. When every editor and journalist came from the show their reaction of the show (without John Galliano) were the same. With a major shake up as John Galliano getting fired from a legendary house as Dior, it will definitely take time for the house to find some consistency. I always believe things will get worse before they get better. Lets hope Dior CEO Sidney Toledano doesn't make the same mistake that the former Emanuel Ungaro CEO Mounir Moufarrige did.

Newly married Royal couple Kate Middleton and Prince William went on a Canada tour. I was completely unaware of what they were doing in Canada but thanks to twitter and the people I follow I was all filled in on what she wore. Tip my hat to the Cut Blog for chronicling Kate Middleton style.

This goes to John Galliano.
News broke today that John Galliano was ousted at his namesake collection. I never wrote about the anti-semitics remarks that Galliano said which led to his dismissal from the house of Dior. I'm going to be honest I was conflicted on how I felt with that scandal, that's why I didn't write about the story. John is no doubt a phenomenal visionary, what was said was disgusting and crude, the decision to fire him from Dior was hard to hear, but understandable.
Now it's time to move on. There are rumors swirling around about who will replace John, but until it's confirm I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon. I wonder how long it will take for John to get back in the good graces of the public and more importantly the fashion public. I hope John take the time he needs and come back to show everyone what a brilliant talent he is.
