Who: Katty Xiomara S/S'17

Where: Pier 59 Studios, NYC

Overall: For Spring/Summer '17 designer Katty drew inspiration within her own cultural background which is her Portuguese family. She really got in to the global maritime power of Portugal back in the 15th century. This equated to maritime motifs in embroidery and laser cut outs, lace fabric was reinterpreted to fishing nets, the prints was a direct reflection of the sea. I think Katty made her inspiration pretty evident and it was easy to see the prints and certain details, but what I enjoyed from this collection was the mix of the long drapey dresses to the tailored pants and coats.
