Phillip Lim Pre-Fall '13 collection hit it out of the ball park. Designer Lim told Style.com, that he was into vintage Harley-Davidson for this collection. There are definitely peeks of that edgy Harley-Davidson style, from the exposed zippers, splashes of leather anddifferent variations of the moto jacket. However Phillip has been on a roll since his last season Pre-fall collection that was Lichtenstein inspired, to his Pashli satchel that has been a major hit with editors and style bloggers. Phillip Lim really knows how to take subtle references to create a collection that's fresh and new.

Spring/Summer '13 Inspected Trend: The New York Influence

Just in time for the Barclays Center opening in Brooklyn, I won't to dive on a trend from the NY collections that was inspired by no other than... New York.The designers at Ruffian was completely frank about Williamsburg, Brooklyn the place where the reside was the inspiration for their Spring/Summer '13 collection. Designer Donna Karan put NY in DKNY by being influenced by Hip-Hop and the street-wear for her collection that was perfect for the pounding the NYC sidewalks. 3.1 Phillip Lim presented a collection of grunge-like looks with "I <3 Nueva York" graphics tees. With some much of attention on Brooklyn and sports these days, these collections will come handy for the consumer next year.

Rihanna wearing an oversized sweater

A few people didn't like the above outfit that Rihanna wore recently. I'm a fan of Rihanna's music but way more for her sense of style. Her outfit struck a chord with me because even though it's getting colder and colder by the day here on the East coast, I haven't seen many people in the streets wearing an oversized sweater. Everyone is bundled up with their coats and scarves because of the frigid temperature. However I think that a luxurious oversized sweater paired with heels and a great pair of jeans a la Rihanna is perfect for
the winter.

When I write brown I'm referring to skin complexion and fortunately I'm part of that "brown" club if you will. It's recently since I really started to embrace color in my wardrobe. It's been a fun adjustment with the oranges, yellows and greens but I think I need to definitely get some blue in my life. I think a color that compliments a range of skin tones is one to invest in.
