The Guatemalan men and women artisans are essential in helping Ketzali create authentic designs but in a modernized way while preserving traditional Guatemalan weaving techniques. Through producing different collections, the artisans can improve their income, working conditions, respect and creativity, and overall standard of living.
All of Ketzali's products are hand-woven in old-style looms to guarantee the individuality and authenticity of each piece. The cotton and wool threads used are all colored with natural and low-impact dyes. The dyes come from resources such as cochineal, walnut hulls, dahlias, blackberries, indigo, and chamomile. These dyes contain no heavy metals or toxic substances, creating less water waste and a lower impact on the environment. Ketzali also improves local working conditions by always committing to gender equality, fair payment of a living wage, and no forced or child labor.
