ThrowBack Video - Cathy Horyn and Patrick McCarthy Thoughts on Fashion Blogging in 2007
Cathy Horyn and Patrick McCarthy

Oh how times flies. It was around 2007 when blogging became the"new" phenomenon that made a lot of people in the industry scratch their heads and also snicker underneath their breath. My favorite journalist, Cathy Horyn actually embraced the immediacy of blogging instead of waiting for her stories to go to print. She is now a Critic-At-Large on The Cut Blog.
Patrick McCarthy, the Chairman for the Fairchild Publications(which includes WWD and W Magazine) at the time said in the below video that "Blogging has changed everything, most of it is gibberish... It's just a stream of conscious stuff, most of it is worthless." Well fast forward to 2016 and fashion blogging according to WWD is making upwards to a million dollars. Ha!
