Oh how times flies. It was around 2007 when blogging became the"new" phenomenon that made a lot of people in the industry scratch their heads and also snicker underneath their breath. My favorite journalist, Cathy Horyn actually embraced the immediacy of blogging instead of waiting for her stories to go to print. She is now a Critic-At-Large on The Cut Blog.
Patrick McCarthy, the Chairman for the Fairchild Publications(which includes WWD and W Magazine) at the time said in the below video that "Blogging has changed everything, most of it is gibberish... It's just a stream of conscious stuff, most of it is worthless." Well fast forward to 2016 and fashion blogging according to WWD is making upwards to a million dollars. Ha!

Not that she sets out to be just another member of the blogging pack. She has certain pet peeves about fashion blogging. “I am tired of the insane enthusiasm for every single collaboration in the world,” said Ms. France, referring to partnerships like the ones Target strikes with independent designers. “The fact that it is so incredibly positive. I don’t think that it should be bitchy or anything, but there’s no rigor as far as looking at style.”
